Baul Concert

Parvathy Baul is a Baul folk singer, musician, storyteller and painter from Bengal and is one of the leading Baul musicians in India. Trained under Baul gurus, Sanatan Das Baul, Shashanko Goshai Baul in Bengal, she has been performing both in India and other countries since 1995.

In February 2019 Parvathy was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, a national recognition for her immense contribution to the ancient Baul tradition. The Baul tradition dates back to the beginning of the eighth century AD, weaving threads of Sahajiya Buddhism, Turkish Sufism and Bengali Hinduism. This powerful musical form has been recognized by UNESCO as a "Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity".

In 2012 Parvathy Baul organised the first women's theatre festival in India, Tantidhatri, in connection with The Magdalena Project. Parvathy Baul is participating in the Odin Teatret performance The Tree since 2016.
